GH Female Musician Appreciation Month

April is marked in many places around the world as Jazz Appreciation Month. Let’s modify that into a celebration of an appreciation for our local GH female musicians. Today, we celebrate…

26. Adomaa

She arrived on the scene on the wings of Ghanaian musical influences from the 1960s through to the 2000s which she exhibited through her Evolution of GH Music release in 2015. That was a mashup of her own treatment of material by E.T. Mensah, Osibisa, Amakye Dede, Paapa Yankson, Kojo Antwi, Reggie Rockstone, R2Bees, Rex Omar, and Kwabena Kwabena. She admitted that mashup completely changed her life.
Over time, what Adomaa has indicated to listeners is that the lines must not be drawn too tightly around her work. Her songs such as Be Your Own Beautiful, I Am Tar, Afraba, Bra, and Traffic Jam point to a singer at home with Highlife, Jazz, R&B, Afro-beat, and other forms. Adomaa has a degree in Journalism and loves to act as well but says music has always been her best friend.
