7. Vida Ofoli
Vida is co-leader of the Lipstick band. At six when other children her age played with dolls and enjoyed a game of ‘ampe’, she opted to create rhythms on discarded beverage cans because she wanted to be a drummer.
She previously played with acts such as Sakumo Cultural Troupe and Bukom Ensemble. Apart from her skill on varied drums such as Congas, Osrama, Gome, Atsimevu, and Atumpan, she is also an Atenteben (flute) player.
To all the girls, she says: “ You can play any instrument you want if you are dedicated.”
