Mama, We Made it! Accra Is No. 1 Place to Visit in Africa, Says Time Magazine

When TIME magazine states that your capital city, among all capital cities in Africa, is the best place for everyone across the world to visit in Africa in its latest issue of the annual World’s Greatest Places list, you pat your city on the back and say, well done, you!

TIME says Accra is a hub for creativity and culture and places our dear capital city ahead of several other countries including Mozambique’s Benguerra Island and Egypt’s Cairo. Do the Agbadza dance!

According to Time, the list “is a tribute to the people and businesses at the forefront of those industries who, amid extraordinary circumstances, found ways to adapt, build and innovate. It shines a light on ingenuity, creativity, revitalization and reopenings in destinations across the world.”

Citing Accra’s recent increase of flight activities, among many other factors, this particular part of the city’s DNA, which gives easy access to tourists worldwide to experience Ghana’s rich culture, historical attractions, and bustling nightlife, is the key that unlocked Accra to become the chosen one!

Accra with its international airport, world standard hotels, facilities, etc, has always been a gateway to the excitement Ghana has to offer tourists. Flagship government-led interventions like the ‘Year of Return’ – YoR – made the city an envy among its peers as several celebrities and Silicon Valley moguls thronged the country.

Here, our Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) gurus must take a bow! And a pat on their back.

Now, with efforts like the ‘Beyond The Return’ – YoR’s succeeding initiative to foster economic relations and investments between Ghana and the African diaspora is set to extend the grace and further entrench Accra’s position as one of the best places to visit in the world.

The work is not over.
